Central Double Room in Brum

Black mold, and questionable sanitation didn’t make the experience worth the price. Positive: I really liked the proximity to the city center, you can have pretty quick access to shopping centers. The toilet was at least kept clean. Negative: There’s a large amount black mold on the corner of the ceiling, the fridge wasn’t really usable because it was already filled with other items from other people, the shower was clogged for most of my stay there (they fixed it on the last day) and so I showered with a lot of backfill from the drain. The power outlet is a legitimate fire hazard causing sparks upon using any electronics.

Positive: The location had good transportation links to town centre, had shops that I could access at night. Also the employees were very helpful and professional. Negative: Room was nothing like advertised, carpet was old, and a ripped strip was substituted with a completely different colour/type of carpet. The chest of drawers had broken drawers and the bed was not comfortable. In fact the pillows were so uncomfortable that I had to ask a friend to bring me some. Also the property was difficult to find and a lady had to help me, which she says she does all the time because ppl can never find it.

Positive: NOTHING! Negative: DO NOT RESERVE THIS PLACE! I walked up the lane to the property and it was strewn with trash. These are Council Flats (public housing). The renter changed the address of the stay due to problems with the room (clue there was a problem with the property). Then the renter forgot to tell me they had changed from keys to combination locks (another clue). I had to message him that I couldn't get in the room. I left for the evening and came back later. I was getting ready to go to bed and noticed a breeze coming from the window next to the bed. I pulled up the window shade and found that the window had been pulled out of the casement and I could not close the window (see photo). I immediately texted the renter and told him this. I didn't hear back from him and texted booking.com (useless, connected me to AI chat, then tried to contact customer service, totally useless, no response). The renter finally contacted me and told me it was OK and perfectly safe (not so, see picture). They said they would send someone to fix it first thing in the morning or move me to another room. Later they changed the time that their staff would arrive at 10 am. Due to the window being pulled out of the casement, and a cold breeze blowing in, I had to sleep on a tiny sofa all night (extremely uncomfortable). I woke up early and noticed the time change to 10 am to fix the window. I waited til after 10 am and contacted both the renter and booking.com that I would be leaving the property due to the property not fixing the window or moving me to another room. I booked another room on another hotel website at a much better property without issue and had a wonderful and issue free stay. I have heard nothing from the property owner or booking.com. This is unacceptable. DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY! And think twice about renting through booking.com. They are useless if you have a problem.

I would not stay there again. Negative: Didn't like the location. It was difficult to find and was no near shopping

Positive: Administration was helpful, the room was clean but there were only a few pillows..no sleepers for the bath and movement Negative: No Access of power plug near the bed and no extra sheet was provided
